forgive yourself for not knowing earlier…

forgive yourself for not knowing earlier…

forgive yourself for not knowing earlier what only time could teach.

let that sink in into your heart.

i think so many of us carry quiet shame for versions of ourselves that were just… learning.

the girl who stayed too long.

the girl who trusted too fast.

the girl who didn’t speak up.

the girl who didn’t know her worth yet.

the list goes on… of moments you wish you would’ve said something, of times you wish you could take back.

here’s what i’ve learned:

you weren’t behind.

you weren’t stupid.

you weren’t weak.

you just didn’t know what you know now. and that’s okay.

time teaches through experience.

you can read every book about boundaries and still not understand them until someone crosses yours.

you can hear “know your worth” a thousand times and still not feel it until you lose something that forces you to.

you can talk about self-love and still abandon yourself.

for honi cove, this matters.

because this community is built on becoming.

on shedding.

on realigning.

on choosing again.

not shaming the old you.

not cringing at her.

not trying to erase her.

but thanking her.

thanking her, for doing what she could with what she had. for doing the most with what she knew.

time is a teacher that doesn’t rush.

you don’t need to regret who you were.

you needed her to become who you are.
